Comic Con 2008 is over and I’m finally back at home where I can rest my poor throbbing convention feet. I had loads of fun this year hanging out with Tone and Dan at the booth. Had lots of great response from people checking out my comics and Re-Evolution. We’ve reserved the booth for next year so hopefully I will be back in 2009 with more comics to show off!

The Con really ramped up today with even more people packing in the convention room floor. Was really tired having stayed up till 3am drinking and just up to no good making it hard to even stay awake at times. I got a pleasant surprise in the morning though finding out Re-Evolution moved up in ranking to second place. Can’t tell how far behind we are Spudman but if the initial numbers are an indicator we’re still behind almost 200 votes, perhaps more. Still, it seems our Comic Con Campaigning is working, we’re getting great response from people visiting the booth and Tone even volunteered to do a sketch for a pretty excited fan in return for some votes. We’ll see how we end up by the end of the week, hopefully we can catch up to Spudman and at least give them a run for their money as the contest comes to an end.

Well it was a pretty hectic day today. Met lots of cool people and got some nice toys and schwag. Was pretty excited to meet some people I had been talking to on Facebook and the guys from Intrepid Pictures who are interested in optioning Subtle Bodies. Been putting out our feelers on the SB pitch, response so far has been good. Going to take it around officially tomorrow and see what happens. For now, it’s party time!

Well after 6 months of preparation my close friend and co-creator Gio Negron and I will be pitching Subtle Bodies at Comic Con 2008. We’ve been cooking up this story for a while now and hope to be able to share it with everyone soon.

Sure, Re-Evolution has cute and cuddly, but it’s also got murder and mayhem… all with animals! The art is excellent and the story has great depth to boot. Will Guerilla Wild liberate the animals from Gorilla control? Vote for this book if you wanna find out!

I’ll note a couple of observations coming out the gate as a competitor this month.

1) All the comics are REALLY REALLY GOOD. A given, true, but it’s even harder to compete this month given every single comic is solid, already have fan bases and would be a great addition to the winners circle.

2) The fact that all the stats from the previous contests are present makes it even harder to gauge how well you are doing against your competition. Where before you could make a guess from the favorites and page view, this month that’s completely out the door. Once the first ranking goes up, I think it will be even more difficult for the comics trying to catch up. Believe me, I know. I was in second place all of April, clawing away at Melody until I finally passed it on the day before the competition ends. Now being in second could potentially become a nightmare, we’ll see. Will be interesting to see how the competition plays out. I predict this will be a runoff month, with whoever taking first at the first ranking winning.

3) As we stated before, marketing the comic may be easier in some respects cause we’ve done it before but trying to get repeat votes from people is tough.
