Wonder of Comics: NYCC 2009 Zuda Update

I’m finally here in New York and I am in love with everything about this city. On Friday I made it out to the convention center around noon and was impressed with how big and how well-organized the facilities were. The floor is pretty big and there’s plenty of stuff to see which reminds me alot of San Diego in it’s size.  I stopped by the Night Owls booth first where I found Bobby Timony cutting out decoder wheels and he promptly handed me one. After that I was off to the Zuda panel where I had the pleasure of meeting all of the Zuda crew and other fellow creators. I sat next to Canaan the creator of Celadore who was there announcing the renewal of his comic for a second season. Among other news at the panel, High Moon was also picked for a third season and it looks like their print comic will be coming out in October. Sheldon Vella was also with us live from Australia via video conferencing and announced SuperTron has also been renewed for another season. Looks like we’re going to have lots of great comics to look forward to from Zuda.

After the panel I was off to the Zuda booth for a scheduled signing. I had the pleasure of being there with Canaan and we had a good time talking to some of the convention goers as well as other Zuda creators who stopped by including the team from this month’s competition “The Hammer” who showed us their cool promotional materials to capture votes in this month’s competition including this awesome action figure of the Hammer himself.

Once the convention was over the Zuda crew all headed out to the DC Comics party at the Heartland Brewery which is in the basement of the Empire State building. Free drinks, free food and a great time. It was great to hang out amongst all those creative folks. Being there made me realize how amazing it is that all these people make a living from their passion for comics — a truly inspiring moment for a new creator like myself.

  1. Not to pick nits, but it was in fact I, PETER TIMONY, who handed you that decoder wheel! Just because we’re twins, that’s no excuse to get us confused!

  2. Hahaha…I started to write this article before I had the pleasure of sharing some drinks with you guys. Now I know your brother is the evil one! I had a blast out there, what a great city. Hope to see you guys again soon in San Diego.
