Wonder of Comics: Zuda Feb. ’09 Competition Update & an Experiment in Webcomics
NYCC 2009 is over and the comic book world is slowly getting back to normal as everyone recovers from the madness of the convention. Here’s some of the Zuda news that’s hit the net after the con:

Zuda Feb. 2009 Competition Update
This month’s competition seems like it’s going to be a rough one for the creators since there already seems to be lots of movement in the rankings early on. Azz’s Inferno has taken the lead moving up from third place, dropping Ninjas from Ibiza to second and The Hammer to third. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of weeks but I expect these top three ranking comics to be battling it out ’till the end. For the complete list of rankings visit the Zuda blog.
A Cool Experiment in Webcomics

Juan, my artist on Re-Evolution, sent me a link to this webcomic on Deviant Art and I thought it as a pretty good experiment in using the technologies available on the web to tell your story. Basically this webcomic uses a slideshow built in Flash that a user interacts with to move the story along. Works pretty well and personally I’d like to see more experiments like these to create webcomics. People in the webcomics community are still afraid of Flash though so I don’t know what it’s gonna take for it to really become a dominant platform for webcomics. Personally, I’d still would like the see the “YouTube” of webcomics to come forward and revolutionize the medium. There’s been many companies out there trying to do this very thing but in my opinion none of them are there yet. Let’s see what 2009 bring us in terms of digital comics.
Well that’s a wrap for this week. I’m actually writing this from my plane on my way back home from New York. Don’t you just love technology? Next week I’m going to be looking at Shadowline’s webcomics and be bringing you more Zuda updates.
